City Power anticipates the restoration of electricity supply by Tuesday, next week.

This is after Monday’s explosion, following four fires, this year.

Technical teams continue with equipment installation and associated cabling at the Central Substation.

As a result of the explosion, the Selby incomer, which had failed the previous day, tripped again during restoration efforts, disrupting electricity supply to Carlton Centre, Standard Bank, Selby, Marshalltown, and City and Suburban.

Anza Mudau, Acting Chief Operating Officer (COO) of City Power, said “we have  assembled a high-level team of expert engineers and technicians to investigate the repeated incidents and to overhaul the network around Central Substation to ensure long-term sustainability.”
