The evacuation of communities in Welgeluk and De Rust, has begun near Oudtshoorn.
This is a precautionary measure, due to rising river levels.
Although the Garden Route has experienced light to moderate consistent rainfall, on Wednesday morning, teams continue to closely monitor low-lying areas across the district.
In addition, there are already several electricity outages in some areas.
The Municipality said “these incidents are being assessed and will be attended to by Eskom and/or the relevant local municipalities as conditions allow.”
There are also several road closures in the Western Cape, including the N1 to heavy vehicles on both directions at the Huguenot Tunnel, due to strong cross-winds.
The Western Cape Department of Education announced several schools would remain closed in Eden and the Karoo, until the 04th June.
Similarly motorists are urged to not use the N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman, because it is closed.
The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management said its law enforcement officers are assisting motorists to use alternative roads.
