A fault on the 132kV transmission lines supplying Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, from the Pinotage substation near Stellenbosch, on Tuesday, led to a reduction of two units to 100 Megawatts (MW) each.
Units 1 and 2 normally produce about 970 MW each.
Eskom’s Daphne Mokwena, said nuclear reactors at the plant, were not affected by this incident.
She also said the National Nuclear Regulator (NNR) was informed of the incident.
“There is no risk of loadshedding due to adequate national generation reserves.”
