A fire started in the Sardinia Bay area, part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, yesterday.
The Municipality said at the time, the Executive Mayor Councillor Gary van Niekerk, was on the ground and working tirelessly to ensure the teams do everything in their power to get the fire under control.
Fire trucks were dispatched as the fire was moving fast due to the high winds, endangering properties, businesses, lives of locals and animals.
The Municipality cautioned residents, via social media, to use alternative routes as streets such as Victoria Drive and surrounding roads were cordoned off.
The Cape Winelands District Municipality, reported progress in the fire that broke out in Du Toit’s Kloof Pass.
Aerial resources stood down at 18:00 as the section closest to road was successfully contained.
