Stanford
There are two active areas where the fire is burning fiercely-towards Die Kop Informal Settlement and also towards the R326.
Fire crews are on the scene, along withThe Black Hawk helicopter.
Residents are urged to remain alert and be prepared for possible evacuation should conditions worsen.
Loud hailing is underway at Die Kop.
The Municipality also said the Stanford Community Hall in Bezuidenhout Street, is open for those who wish to evacuate their properties as a precautionary measure.
Mosselbay
Mopping up is underway.
It emerged during a briefing by the Joint Operations Centre, that the fire has ravaged some 23 square kilometres of land and properties.
The Incident Command Post (ICP) is also still located at the Mossel Bay Airfield, including the rehabilitation and refreshment area for fire crews and emergency workers.
Crews have come from the Garden Route District, Mossel Bay, Working on Fire, volunteer crews (neighbourhood watch groups, NSRI)
A Relief crew is expected to arrive from Gauteng (firefighters who volunteered to assist) on Friday.
Anton Bredell, Provincial MEC for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, is expected to visit affected areas on Friday.
Kouga
The N2 between Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay was reopened on Friday morning.
Oasis FM will be hosting a community event, to pray for fires and the rain.
This event will take place on Friday, 9 January 2026 from 18:00pm – 20:00pm at the Jeffreys Bay Amphitheatre.
Kouga Local Municipality thanked firefighters and Gift of the Givers, for water trucks and aerial support.
