There were four incidents of flooding reported by the  Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Joint Operations Centre (JOC), between 19:17 and 20:55, on Tuesday evening.

Flooding was reported at Matomela and Seysi Street, Boxongo, JT Kabah, Stack Street, Woolfson, and Ward 29.

Rising water levels were also reported at Cat Canal, around 20:55.

By Wednesday early morning, several roads are reportedly flooded in the City, including next to cenetery on M4, at 52 Author street in Sydneham, 31 Tottenham street Kensington, at Corner of La Roche & Strandfontein, Target Kloof, M17 Swartkops, Durban Road, Part of Standford Road, Chatty Dip, at the entrance of Despatch, 7th Avenue Newton Park between Shirley & King Edward Street, Newton Street between 4th & 5th Avenue, Walker Drive, Stanford rd next to Kirsten, Highfield, N2 close to John Tallent, Addo road, Burt drive behind Mercantile and Milner Ave opposite the North End Lake.

Sithembiso Soyaya, the Spokesperson of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, reminded residents to follow weather updates from reliable and verified media, pertaining to road closures and emergency notices. 

Johannesburg

Rains also caused localised flooding in parts of Johannesburg, including Shiefield Street, Lenasia South and Republic Road in Midrand. 

There was also a fallen tree on Buffalo Road, in Emmarentia, on Tuesday evening, which was reported by SCP Security Private Fire Search & Rescue, at around 19:57.

The tree blocked the roadway, and the security’s team began clearing it, alongside City Parks.

According to the National Disaster Management Centre, the next three days are expected to get bitterly cold in the interior of South Africa.

There is also a possibility of disruptive snow this week, over the southern and south-eastern high-lying areas of the Northern Cape, north-eastern high-lying areas of the Western Cape, extreme southern high-lying areas of the Free State, interior of the Eastern Cape, and Lesotho.
