Residents in Gauteng are bracing for icy weather conditions, starting on Friday into the Weekend.

The City of Joburg’s Emergency Services (EMS), has therefore, urged residents to exercise caution, when using heating devices.

Robert Mulaudzi, Communications Manager at the Joburg EMS, said in a statement released by EMS yesterday, “this drop in temperature, means that our residents throughout the City of Joburg, will be tempted to use all sorts of heating devices, to try and warm themselves against the cold.”

Mulaudzi said residents must not leave heating devices unattended, such as heaters, imbaula, paraffin stoves and candles.

The City’s disaster management teams, will be monitoring 7 Regions of the City.
About 29 fire station crews will also be on high alert.
