Power outages caused by gale force winds continued on Wednesday in parts of Theewaterskloof Municipality, including Grabouw, Greyton, Genadendal, Bereaville, Voorstekraal, and parts of Villiersdorp.
A Level 6 warning for damaging winds was issued earlier in the week, by the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
Eskom in the Western Cape, said its technicians are working diligently to restore electricity.
Technicians were busy restoring damaged cables in the Greyton and Genadendal areas, as well as in Villiersdorp, on Wednesday.
Alderman Lincoln De Bruyn, Executive Mayor of Theewaterskloof, said on Wednesday, motorists are urged to be cautious of potential obstructions such as fallen trees and debris, particularly on mountain passes and when operating higher vehicles.
Strong winds led to about ten fires in KwaZulu-Natal this week.
The Working on Fire – Kishugu Joint Venture said fire fighting teams were dispatched to assist in numerous fires across KwaZulu-Natal.
Seven (7) out of eight (10) fires were active on Wednesday.
The N3 had to be temporarily closed, due to smoke from a nearby veld fire affecting visibility south of Wilge toll gate.
The Working on Fire – Kishugu JV, also said it’s teams in Limpopo are working with the Letaba Fire Protection Association, to suppress fires in Greater Tzaneen.
