Although there is planned maintenance scheduled to affect water supply in parts of Johannesburg, as from Tuesday, the 11th March 2025, until Wednesday, there are at least four other areas without water.
Planned maintenance is planning in Doornkop West, Devland Industrial, Hector Norris (as from Thursday, the 13th March 2025) and Fleurhof (18th March 2025).
Parts of the Sandton system are caving under pressure, Johannesburg Water (JW) said in an update, the unplanned outage was caused by a burst pipe at Bhekilanga, Alexander.
JW also said in addition to throttling on Sunday evening, it’s teams are still assessing the situation.
Affected areas are those supplied by the Morningside, Marlboro, Illovo and Bryanston reservoirs.
Another area with no water is Goudrand and Mathole.
JW said its teams are investigating the situation, while water tanks are stationed at Corner Enoch Sontonga and Gold Rush Street, Princess Diana Streets and Molepo Streets.
JW also said a power outage at the Rand Water Vereeniging Treatment Plant which affected thw Eikenhof system, was restored, but pumping at Swartkoppies is at a snails pace, due to increased demand from the Swartkoppies and Meredale systems.
