A flare up just above De Kelders, was contained by firefighters on Wednesday evening, as the fire continues in Gansbaai, part of the Overstrand Municipality.
Thursday’s wind is expected to reach up to 51 kilometers an hour, but teams have begun mop up operations.
Dean O’ Neill, Overstrand Municipal Manager, said the fire has burnt about 1,700 hectares.
Fresh crews were deployed to the scene on Thursday morning from organisations including the Municipality’s Fire Services, Working on Fire, goFPA and some landowners.
