Joburg Emergency Services (EMS) said there were no major incidents reported overnight and on Monday morning, due to severe thunderstorms in the City.

Robert Mulaudzi, Spokesperson of EMS urged motorists to continue to exercise caution while driving in wet weather.

 “Avoid crossing flooded roads and bridges in low lying areas, as well as rivers and streams.”

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against severe thunderstorms and downpours in the central and northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, the  eastern parts of Free State.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms are also expected to continue in Johannesburg, Vereeniging, Mbombela, Polokwane, Mahikeng, Bloemfontein and East London and on Monday.

Establishments in the Sani Pass shared pictures of snowfall in the area.
