Fires and rains

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has urged motorists and residents to exercise extreme caution on the City’s roads subsequent to flooding of some roads, as a result of recent rains in the last 2 days.

Strong winds are expected to stay in the country until 5 days into January 2024, for most parts of the country, including the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.
This according to Stormbaron, an outlook of LandWater.

There is an “Upper Air” rain window, with potentially two upper cyclones.
A low cut off low pressure is expected along the west coast of the country on Thursday until Sunday.
Areas affected on Thursday are expected to be South East Namibia, Central and Eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the North Eastern interior of the Western Cape, North Western interior of the Eastern Cape, western parts of the Free State and Western parts of the Northwest.

The interior parts of the Northern Cape, the Western Cape, and the Eastern Cape, will be affected.

Fires
A weather Advisory from the West Coast District, has predicted very hot and dry weather conditions for Wednesday.

Fires are still active in parts of the Western Cape, including Romansrivier – Wolseley, parts of the City of Cape Town (Strand Delft areas), these are structural fires, where 135 informal homes were destroyed in Seawinds, 60 in Jim Se Bos and 45 in Wallacedene.

Ladysmith floods

Flash floods swept through Ladysmith on Christmas day, 11 people were missing on the day.
6 were confirmed dead.
Searches were conducted in Bellspruit.

Water interruptions in Nocci

The Sol Plaatje Municipality issued a statement yesterday, announcing water interruptions in Nocci, Kimberly.
This after several residents have been threatening the Municipality on social media, to say something about water supply interruptions since earlier on I December.

Yesterday, Thabo Mothibi, of the Municipality, issued a statement confirming, water storage capacity at the Newton Reservoirs, is low and interruptions to supply, will be between 12 midday until 5pm and again from 9pm until 5am.

The Municipality also said a rapture of a major pipeline in Riverton, exacerbated the situation.
