With decreased water levels in reservoirs in Joburg, authorities have urged residents to observe level 1-water restrictions, which were implemented in September until the 31st March 2023.

The use of hosepipe to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways is prohibited. Filling up swimming pools and water features between 06am – 6pm, is also prohibited.

Johannesburg Water announced some of its reservoirs were stressed and had to be shut overnight to retain water and build capacity. This was two days ago.

Reservoirs are in Brixton, Hursthill 2, Crown Gardens and Soweto (Freedom Park, Doornkop West, Power Park, Orlando East and Zondi).

Yesterday, Johannesburg Water said systems in the City are improving.

These include the Parktown reservoir complex, the Alexander Park reservoir, the Soweto system, the reservoirs in Commando and Crosby.

Reservoirs in Randjieslaagte and Berea continue to be stressed due to high demand, the Utility said in an update.
