A 43 -year old man was arrested for the possession of illicit cigarettes, in Sundra, Mpumalanga, on 05 December 2025 at about 22:00.
Police said 25 pallets of illicit cigarettes were recovered, with an estimated street value worth R17,4 million.
Officers acted on a tip -off about a water tank used to transport illicit cigarettes.
They pulled over a truck with two trailers loaded with twelve 5 000-liter water tanks stuffed with different brands of cartons of illicit cigarettes.
The suspect from Eswatini, was arrested and is expected to appear at the Delmas District Court on Monday, 08 December 2025.
