Dr Sandile Malinga, Group Executive, of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Council (CSIR) and Sives Govender, research group leader for Spatial Information Systems, were invited to serve as technical leaders, of the Marine and Coastal Operations for Southern Africa consortium project.

The auspicious global symposium will take place from 23 to 26 September 2024 in Frascati, Italy, the CSIR announced, this week.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the CSIR to share experiences on the collaboration between Africa and Europe in the field of earth observations.”

The CSIR said the workshop is co-organised by ESA, the Africa Union Commission, the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment, the European Commission, the National Astrology Space Agency and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites.

One of its principal researchers, Steven Weerts, is expected to present at a Maritime Week celebration in the Seychelles, taking place from the 24 – 26th September 2024.

The conference is expected to focus on maritime innovation and sustainability.
Its theme is “incorporating sustainability agenda, and implementing green port initiatives.”
