Joburg Water has encouraged residents to collect rainwater, for reuse to water plants, clean outdoor areas and even flush toilets.
This as several areas East of Joburg are flooded due to Thursday’s heavy rains.
Some residents shared videos of a flooded Golden Walk Shopping Centre, the Gillooly’s Highway, certain roads in Benoni, Alexandra and Germiston.
The weather service has issued a Yellow level 2 warning against severe thunderstorms and heavy rains, on Thursday, over the North West, Gauteng, most parts of the Free State, Highveld of Mpumalanga, south-western Limpopo, north-eastern part of Northern Cape, and extreme western parts of KwaZuluNatal.
