A storm that swept through Northern KZN, damaged infrastructure.
Joyce Zingoni, of Eskom’s Industry support and Stakeholder Management division, said a storm that swept through the area, led to electricity faults in Hluhluwe, Hlabisa, Mkuze, Jozini, Pongola, uLundi and Nongoma.
She also said residents should treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous, due to electrical supply that may be switched on without notice.
Elsewhere in Mzimkhulu, authorities held a disaster awareness campaign. The campaign, targets residents who live in mud houses and raises awareness about suitable areas for building, away from areas susceptible to disasters.
It is led by “Operation Stand Up, let’s build” directly translated from isiZulu ” Operation Sukuma Sakhe” which is a joint effort by the Provincial Department and the Local Municipality.
