Strong winds and intensified storms are expected in the Eastern and Western Cape this week, from Monday the 16th to Sunday, the 22nd September 2024.

This is as a result of a strong Cut-Off Low system, crossing through the central parts of South Africa, between Monday and Wednesday.

As a result, storms and strong winds, will be accompanied by hail and cloud bursts over the central and eastern provinces in the first part of the week, followed by a weak upper air perturbation in the south on Thursday, bringing light-to-moderate rainfall to the Western and Eastern Cape.

On Monday and Tuesday, about 40mm of rain is expected in KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, eastern Northern Cape, western KwaZulu-Natal.

North westerly winds, are expected to dominate over southern parts of Gauteng and eastern North West, on Monday, and strong North Easterly ones over central Limpopo, Gauteng, and eastern North West on Tuesday.
