Meteorologists say a Subtropical Storm known as “Issa” was behind the widespread destruction and deaths in KZN in April 2022.

Now an equally strong storm, called “Kanto” is visible in the latest satellite images, east of South Africa and South of Madagascar.

On Sunday, the system was tracked by the CMRS cyclone of Reunion Island, located between 850 and 900 km south of Madagascar, far from land.

It is expected to have wind speed at sea of 75 km/h, gusts of an estimated 100 km/h.

Meteorologists say the system is expected to die down on Easter Monday.

According to Meteo France Reunion, “Kanto” is the 15th low pressing system of the 2024/2025 cyclone season.
