Three continents (Africa, Europe and South America) have had extraordinarily high temperatures recorded on earth, by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
Information from three leading international datasets, indicate August was the warmest month on record, marking the 15th consecutive month of record-high global temperatures. Datasets come from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA and the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service.
WMO is expected to table the State of the Climate reports, at the UN Climate Change conference, COP29, in Azerbaijan in November.
This is a combination of six global datasets.
Thus far, 2023 is the warmest year on record. Temperatures are just one of the indicators of climate change. Others include ocean heat, sea ice and glaciers.
