About 700 meters of pipes and a subsoil drainage system, was installed to protect homes in Vlakfontein, near Lenasia, from flooding.

The City of Johannesburg said in a statement, the upgrade was also done to manage water runoff.

This was part of the City’s R20 million project, implemented by the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and the Human Settlements Department, to upgrade Eagle Crescent and Falcon Crescent.

Dada Morero, Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, “this is more than just a road upgrade, it’s a fundamental  investment in the quality of life of our residents.”

Mlungisi Mabaso, MMC for Human Settlements in Gauteng, echoed the sentiments of the Mayor adding “upgrading these roads and installing proper drainage, directly addresses the daily challenges faced by our residents.

It’s about building resilient, connected neighbourhoods, where people can thrive…”
