Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki erupted on Flores Island, killing about 9 people, on Tuesday, the 05th November 2024.

The eruption reached up to 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) into the air, destroying about 2, 384 homes.

About 16,000 people were evacuated across 10 villages, within 20 kilometers of volcanic action.

63 people were injured, and 1 missing.

Rescue teams are still searching for victims, while the exclusion zone was expanded to a 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) radius as eruptions intensified.

Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki, one of Indonesia’s 120 active volcanoes, has seen increased volcanic activity, with experts warning that pressure from blocked magma may lead to further eruptions.

Indonesia, located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” frequently experiences earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
