Residents of Keiskammahoek in the Eastern Cape and surrounding areas have no water.

The Amatola Board said a pipe transporting water from Mnyandeni Dam has burst.

Repairs begin today until this evening at 6pm.

Elsewhere in the EThekwini Municipality, the City said it has improved some areas that experienced water supply disruptions in the northern parts of the City.
In a notice to residents, the Municipality said it has been implementing various interventions to improve the performance of the old Northern Aqueduct. These interventions include reducing leaks and replacing defective air valves.
It also said sections from Phoenix to Verulam, have been serviced.

In the Free State, Advocate Ngoqo, Municipal Manager of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, has advised residents to boil drinking water, as a precautionary measure.

He was responding to concerns of the discoloration of drinking water in the area.

As a precautionery measure, while the Municipality investigates the matter with its service provider, Ngoqo says residents must
“boil drinking water and allow it to cool off before drinking. Put 1 teaspoon (5ml) of bleach (regular and unperfumed household bleach in 25 litres of water and leave to stand for at least 2 hours before consuming.”

Residents celebrated as a R7.9 M upgrade at Botrivier Wastewater Treatment Works begins, in the Western Cape.

Phase 1 of upgrades of the Botrivier Wastewater Treatment Works, has begun.

Phase One of the upgrades, valued at R7.9 million, will include the construction of a new inlet works, admin building, and a gantry over the bioreactor directly on-site, which have brought many challenging to the system.

Yesterday, Wilfred Solomons-Johannes, the Municipality of Theewaterskloof’s Municipal Manager, Jennifer Mckenzie, the Mayoral Committee Chairperson for Technical and Infrastructure Implementation Services, Councillor, officially handed over the site at the Botrivier Wastewater Treatment Works.
