Johannesburg South including parts of Soweto, will have no water for 56 hours, from the 10th October until the 12th October 2024.

Rand Water announced its project to relocate a G20 Pipeline.

In a statement, Rand Water said the implementation of the project is in line with an agreement signed between two entities (Rand Water and City Power).

City Power has requested Rand Water to relocate the G20 Pipeline which runs near its Mondeor Substation.

The G20 Pipeline supplies water from the Zwartkopies Pumping Station, via Johannesburg South to some parts of Soweto.

The diversion project is expected to commence on 10 October from 06h00 and is expected to be completed on 12 October 2024 at 14h00.

Elsewhere in Johannesburg, unplanned maintenance  has led to no water supply in parts of Soweto central, including Jabavu, Jabulani, Central, White City, Moroka, Moletsane, Tladi, Phiri, Senoane and Zola South.
Water supply interruptions, are expected to end on the 24th October 2024.
