Clanwilliam 

The technical team continued to clean reservoirs in Clanwilliam on Friday. 

The final reservoir Cederville, was flushed, scoured and cleaned on Friday.  

It is at 40% capacity, which means certain areas still have water, but water was totally shutdown at 6pm.

The Municipality said it expects normal water supply at Old, new Hopland and Khayelitsha. 

Govan Mbeki Municipality 

Some homes and local businesses had no water on Friday, due to critically low levels at the Wildebeeste reservoirs.

The Municipality said affected areas are Secunda’s extensions 22 and 23.

Gqeberha 

Several water pipe bursts were reported on Friday morning in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

This is despite critically low reservoirs in some areas of the City.

Inspection teams are currently assessing affected sites.

Some delays are being experienced at the water treatment works; however, operations were expected to recover at the end of the business day.

The Municipality said it is preparing for Eskom’s planned electricity outage at the Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works on 2 July 2026.

Knysna

This week the Knysna Municipality said it is repairing water leaks.

Lekwa Municipality

The pumping unit started tripping again, resulting in water supply interruptions.

As a result, there was no water at Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 15.

Authorities went to conduct an oversight inspection of key water and sanitation infrastructure projects, as part of the Lekwa Ministerial Intervention Programme, on Friday.

The first stop was at the Standerton Water Treatment Works, where upgrades are currently underway. 

The project aims to improve the performance of the wastewater treatment plant (WTW) in order to improve reliability of the bulk water supply to the Standerton network. 

The second stop was at the Vaal Sewer Pump, expected to be handed over to Lekwa LM after completion of upgrade. 

The final stop was at the Lekwa Chambers.

Sifiso Mngemezulu, Mayor of Lekwa was joined by David Mahlobo, Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation as well as Walter Mngomezulu, Gert Sibande’s District Municipality. 

Steve Tshwete Municipality 

There was no water at Mhluzi and Tokologo. 

The Municipality said this is due to a pipe burst in Drosdy Street.

This led to residents of Nazareth,  experiencing low water pressure or complete water outages. 

Municipal teams were  on-site, and supply was expected to resume on Friday evening.
