All three big Metros in Gauteng (City of Ekurhuleni, Tshwane Municipality and the City of Johannesburg) are using more water than agreed with Rand Water.

If you are not familiar with Rand Water’s graphs, the Red line in the graph represents Rand Water’s consumption agreement with the Metros.
Rand Water pumps an average of about 4904 Ml per day.
About 4549 Ml per day goes to customers.

The Blue line in the graph shows the consumption patterns/trends (up and down the red line) of the Metros.

When the Blue line falls below the Red line, it means the Metro is managing its water consumption effectively within the water use licence agreement with Rand Water.

However, when the Blue line is above the Red line, it means the Metro is consuming more water than agreed upon with Rand Water.

On Tuesday afternoon, the 20th August, Rand Water urged all Metros to reduce water consumption.
