There will be no pumping of water at Mapleton Station for about 107 hours, starting from Thursday, 29 May 2025.
This is as maintenance of water infrastructure gets underway, with the connection of a newly constructed B16 pipeline.
Once completed, the pipeline will supply water from the new Station 5A at Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant, to Engine Room 3 at Mapleton Booster Pumping Station.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, Sipho Mosai, CEO of Rand Water, gave a detailed account of the entire infrastructure maintenance project, scheduled to end on the 18th July 2025.
Mosai said planned maintenance is critical to increasing capacity and improving the availability, reliability, and efficiency of Rand Water’s systems.
Areas to be affected in Tshwane, are Regions 2, 3, and 6, Waterkloof Ridge, Elardus Park, Constantia Park, Silver Lakes, Mooikloof, and Mamelodi, Bronberge, Selcourt, Stompiesfontein, Vlakfontein 1 and 2, Wildebeesfontein 1, 2 and 3, as well as areas supplied by the Carina Street, Constantia Park, Corobrick, and Erasmusrand Reservoir.
Areas in Ekurhuleni are Benoni, Vosloorus, Katlehong, Daveyton, Springs, Brakpan, KwaThema, Tsakani, Duduza, Nigel, and Dunnottar.
Other areas to be affected by maintenance are the following municipalities: Thembisile Hani, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, and Victor Khanye.
