Sasol received certification for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Renewable Diesel, on Thursday.

The company processes cooking and vegetable oil,  at its Natref refinery.

The certification also covers sustainable chemicals production at Secunda Operations.

Sarushen Pillay, Sasol Executive Vice President of Business Building, Strategy and Technology, said this milestone follows the successful completion of an International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC+) final onsite audit by TÜV SÜD, a leading provider of testing, inspection and certification.

“This milestone demonstrates that Sasol can deliver certified sustainable fuels and chemicals at scale using existing assets in South Africa. Independent certification strengthens confidence in our transition strategy, our operating capability and our ability to compete in global low carbon markets,” said Pillay.

Globally recognized certification schemes like ISCC PLUS, combined with impartial audits conducted by independent third parties like TÜV SÜD, are essential to demonstrate the sustainability, traceability and greenhouse gas reduction of products and processes.
