The number of calls received in the past few days, exceeded the total number of incidents attended to during a three-month period in winter 2023, which was 76.
This is feedback provided by the City of Cape Town’s Parks Department.

The highest number of calls came from the City Bowl and southern suburbs, as well as the Helderberg Basin, including Firgrove, Strand, Somerset West and Gordon’s Bay.

Similarly, residents of Kutlwanong in Kimberley were badly affected by the floods. Parts of the Northern Cape, Kimberly included, experienced heavy rainfall over the weekend.

An intense-cut off low pressure system, swept through the Western Cape and Southern regions of Namakwa, from Saturday evening until Monday.
