The Buffalo City Municipality (BCMM) and residents of Beacon Bay in the Eastern Cape, rolled up sleeves over the weekend, to clean up the area.
Alan Zealand, Manager Beaches, Solid Waste and Environmental Management in the Municipality, said this initiative was not just about removing waste from the beaches, but also about restoring pride, strengthening partnerships and building a culture of shared responsibility.
The campaign follows discussions between the Municipality and residents.
One outcome was the weekend’s clean up of the beach, surrounding walkways, and dunes.
“Sustainable waste management strategies, stricter enforcement against illegal dumping, increased public education, and continued community engagement must now take center stage,” said Zealand.
