Various organisations and leaders have sent condolences to the Catholic Community, following the passing of Pope Francis on Easter Monday, at around 7:35am.

Pope Francis died on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88, at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta. 

Peter Dutton, Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom, said in a statement on Monday, the news of the Pope’s passing is sad.

He also said the Pope lived frugally and simply.

Armenians in Lebanon, said the Pope’s acknowledgment of the Armenian genocide, during mass in 2015, marked a historic moment in the church’s advocacy and truth.

Various catholic parishes have expressed sadness, as condolences continue to pour in.

President Ramaphosa of South Africa, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are among leaders who sent condolences.

His press office at the Vatican said “he taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus.”
