The water in Sebokeng Zone 7 and Palm Springs, is contaminated, the eMfuleni Municipality confirmed in a notice to residents.
Authorities suspect the source of contamination is a collapsed sewer pipeline, which is causing a discoloration in the water, in that area.
“A technical team has been dispatched to establish the source of contamination” the Municipality said.
Residents are advised to boil water for 3 minutes before use.
The Municipality also said this week, that despite laboratory tests conducted in affected areas since March this year, the water remains unsafe for consumption.
Areas affected are in Beverly Hills, Sonder Water, Graceland, Palm Springs, Lakeside, Zones 3, 6, 7 and 8, Small Farms, Evaton, Evaton North and West.
