Regional engagement towards funding Regional infrastructure projects is well underway.
This week, the SADC Secretariat Directorate of Infrastructure, representatives from the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), met to discuss the Regional Infrastructure Development Master Plan (RIDMP) and the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISP).
Nyameka Mandonda and Graham Chingambu of the DBSA, showcased the SADC Project Preparation Facility (PPDF) and SADC Water Fund.
Discussions centered around a site visit to the Kazungula Border Town Water Supply project.
Mapaloa Mokoena, Director for Infrastructure at SADC Secretariat, said a united and concerted effort towards realising SADC’s collective infrastructure agenda, is critical. “By pooling resources, aligning strategies, and engaging in strategic global partnerships, SADC aims to enhance its infrastructure development initiatives and foster sustainable growth across the region.”
Dr Judith Kateera, Deputy Executive Secretary for Corporate Affairs of SADC, said more innovative financing mechanisms should be explored collectively.
