Temperatures are expected to drop as from Saturday, from a week of a scorching heatwave.
The Weather Service’s Stella Nake and Wayne Venter, said relatively cooler conditions would replace an outgoing high pressure system causing the heatwave.
Temperatures broke a nine year record in the Namakwa District, with recorded temperatures of as high as up to 44,8 degrees at Alexander Bay and about 43,5 degrees at Garies.
Temperatures reached a high of 42,1 degrees in Cape Town, Kirstenbosch and Worcester, breaking an eleven year record.
