The Western and Northern Cape Authorities are prepping for an extreme cold front this week.
This follows a warning issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) against damaging winds accompanying a cold front, starting on Tuesday until Thursday.

As a result, swells and wave heights are expected to reach up to 8 meters, between Lamberts Bay and Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday.

Gale force winds are expected at between 80 – 100 kilometers per hour.

The SAWS said in an update, winds would only subside on Thursday morning.

Residents are warned against using the sea at this time, especially with small vessels and kayaks.

An analyst of LandWater said “we are now in the part of winter where powerful systems, with a central pressure of 930 – 950 hPA appear more often.”
