About 102 bodies were recovered since the devastating floods of the 09th June 2025. About 63 of them, are adults and 39 children.
The Eastern Cape Government said of the deceased, 78 came from the OR Tambo District, 10 from Amathole, Alfred Nzo 5, Joe Gqabi 2, Sarah Baartman 2, and Chris Hani 5.
Thus far, 96 bodies were identified and handed over to families, while 6 remain unidentified.
The South African Police Services (SAPS) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) helicopters continue to find more victims, two of them, believed to be missing children.
