This is due to imports of both crude oil and finished products at a price set overseas, including importation costs and shipping costs.
The average Brent Crude oil price decreased slightly from 64.14 US Dollars (USD) to 63.54 USD.
The Rand appreciated against the US Dollar (from 17.29 to 17.23 Rand per USD) during the period under review. This led to lower contributions to the Basic Fuel Prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 3.36 c/l, 3.79 c/l and 3.76 c/l, respectively.
