Landscape-level coordination and invasive alien plant management, were discussed at length, for the Cape Floristic Region, at a recent Fynbos Forum, held at the ATKV Goudini Spa in the Breede River Valley.
Freshwater conservation, ecosystem restoration, and building shared visions for people and nature, were also part of discussions.
The Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve (GCBR) said discussions were in line with this year’s theme “working together at the edge.”
The forum brought together conservation practitioners, researchers, land managers, students, government, non-profit organisations (NGOs) and other partners.
Dr. Martina Treurnicht, is the chairperson of the Fynbos Forum (RF) NPC, leading a network of researchers, managers, and landowners towards the conservation of the fynbos biome.
The GCBR, wrote on various social platforms “the GCBR team was proud to participate in the 2026 Fynbos Forum, sharing some of the work. Presentations were delivered by Jolandie Buck, Dr Wilhelm de Beer, Nelisiwe Khusi and Linda Fletcher, showcasing the breadth of work being coordinated across our landscape.”
The Forum, which is held annually, serves as an exchange learning platform.
“No single organisation can achieve the resilience and conservation outcomes our landscapes needs – it takes connected people, shared knowledge and collective action” said Linda Fletcher, who oversees communication for the GCBR.
