A female minor, is the latest victim to be receiving medical attention in Vakansieplaas, Mosselbay.

She joins three firefighters who sustained injuries, only one was hospitalised for smoke inhalation, following an overnight fire that threatened to engulf Aalwyndal, Island View and Vakansieplaas.

Firefighting continues in Aalwyndal and surrounding areas.

The Mosselbay Municipality said in an afternoon update, wind gusts and inaccessible terrain are complicating the containment of the fire.

Aerial firefighting resources are douting the fire, but flare-ups have necessitated further evacuations in Aalwyndal.

The Animal Welfare Society shared pictures of animal skeletons and skulls found ravaged by the blaze.
