Police seized about 3 339 counterfeit and illicit goods, estimated at R2 062 050.00.
These include branded clothing, footwear, personal care products, food products, and household items.
Police also said six (6) undocumented foreign nationals were arrested; one (1) arrest for the employment of an illegal foreign national; nine (9) traffic fines issued; three (3) business premises closed due to non-compliance with Health and Safety Regulations; and four (4) pallets of liquor detained by SARS for further investigation.
The operation was executed in terms of a Search and Seizure Warrant at various locations along Samora Machel Drive (N4), Anderson Street, the corner of Anderson and Henshall Streets, Kykoedie Street, and Valencia Street.
Other members of the team are the SAPS Mpumalanga Counterfeit Task Team, several law enforcement and regulatory stakeholders, including Crime Intelligence, Tactical Response Team (TRT), SARS Customs, City of Mbombela Intervention Unit, Traffic Services, Law Enforcement, the Department of Home Affairs, Ehlanzeni Municipal Health Services, and Brand Protectors.
