Snowfall was reported in high-lying areas, including Lootsberg Pass near Middelburg, Wapadsberg in Nxuba, and areas around Robert Sobukwe and Lady Grey.
Despite this, major mountain passes remain open to traffic at this stage.
The Eastern Cape Department of Transport has urged motorists against attempting to cross flooded low-lying bridges or roads.
“Fast-flowing water poses a serious risk and has the potential to sweep vehicles away” said the Department on Wednesday.
It emerged at a Joint Operating Committee (JOC) that the N2 towards John Tallant, is currently not accessible due to flooding.
Traffic officers are at most affected areas and are actively managing traffic flow.
According to the Gamtoos Water Board, some 120,000 litres per second was measured at the Wabooms weir.
This excludes the water from Krakeel.
Moreover, 329.4mm rain was measured at Krakeel hoek , while 157.8mm at Krakeel, Tammie 156.6mm, Joubertina 105mm and Stuurmans is flowing at 35,000 litres per second.
The Nqweba Dam is also overflowing again.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Civil Society Coalition, a representative of society, including business, labour, civil organisations, faith-based institutions and community structures, took the opportunity presented by the floods to raise alarm about the municipality’s emergency fleet, left without fuel.

The weather service (SAWS) warned against continued disruptive rains at an Orange Level 8 over Koukamma, Kouga Municipalities and the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro of Eastern Cape.
An Orange Level 6 warning is over extreme eastern parts of the south of the Western Cape and western coast and adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape.
An Orange Level 5 Warning for Disruptive Snow leading to pass closures, is expected over Senqu, Elundini and Walter Sisulu Municipalities of the Eastern Cape.
