The KwaXimba Water Treatment Plant, was in the spotlight this week, when Senzo Mthunu, Minister of Water and Sanitation visited with dignitaries.
The Plant under construction, will serve the community of KwaXimba, in KwaZulu-Natal.
The small town of KwaXimba has a population of just over 34,500 people.
Sandile Mazibuko, Project Manager of the Plant, said the project will treat an estimated 2 Megaliters of water per day.
Mazibuko said a pipeline and pump station are under construction. The pipeline is 35m long, with a diameter of about 355mm. Once completed, it will transport raw water from Nagle Aqueducts No.01 and No.02.
The construction of a low lift pump station, is also underway, from the Nagle Aqueducts to the Package Plant.
The KwaXimba Plant, is implemented by the uMngeni-uThukela Water Board.
