City Power said it has disconnected electricity supply to a residential property in Houghton, where 90 people were illegally housed.
This follows a raid to the property, by the City’s Public Safety Department and the Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD), on Wednesday, this week.
Isaac Mangena, Spokesperson of City Power, said authorities discovered severe overcrowding and health hazards, pointing to a violation of bylaws.
The property got a level-3 disconnection, which is the highest form, reserved for worst cases of abuse and violation of infrastructure.
