Eskom announced the suspension of loadshedding this morning, Sunday, the 02nd February 2025.
Daphne Mokwena, Spokesperson of Eskom, said “due to the sufficient replenishment of emergency reserves, load shedding was suspended today at 6:00am in the morning.”
Loadshedding was reintroduced after 309 days of uninterrupted supply, due to breakdowns of 6 units at two power stations, Lethabo and Matimba coal-fired power stations are out.
Eskom also said on Friday, the unplanned capacity loss factor was 7,3% lower than the same period last year.
A total of about 3,410 Megawatts (MW) is expected to return to the system to ease pressure on the grid.
