Parts of the inner City Precinct, in Johannesburg were plunged into darkness by cable theft.
City Power said on Saturday, about 260 meters of cables were stolen, that are significant to Marshalltown.
Isaac Mangena, Spokesperson of City Power, said “on Tuesday, we experienced an outage originating from the Albert West distributor, which was attributed to a faulty mini-substation and blown terminations. The necessary repairs were completed, but the restoration of service anticipated for Thursday night, was impeded by accessibility challenges at buildings like Braamfischer Towers.”
Mangena said although efforts to restore the power supply resumed on Friday, 04 July 2025, with access gained around 14:30, technicians encountered further complications due to additional faults on the Market Street distributor.
Full restoration of supply, is expected on Monday night, 07 July 2025.
