A mega offshore earthquake measured at 7.3, near Sand Point, Alaska, on Wednesday, has triggered a tsunami advisory.
The Alaska Earthquake Centre initially issued a Tsunami warning, but later downgraded it, to an advisory.
Sand Point is located on northwestern Popof Island, home to about 600 people. It’s approximately 600 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
Alaska’s worst earthquake had a magnitude of 9.2, back in 1964, which triggered a Tsunami, which killed over 130 people.
