The ANC is marching across cities to commemorate Human Rights Day, on Saturday.

The march is joined by religious, traditional leaders and those supporting a ceasefire in the Middle East.

Dubbed “the People’s March” some participants are carrying boards written “in Defence of Our Sovereignty and Democratic Gains.”

Others are marching to mark 30 years of the Constitution.

Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, ANC National Spokesperson, was seen engaging traditional leaders participating in the march.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) advised motorists to avoid several streets in the Johannesburg CBD, as 50,000 participants were on the streets, since 7am until 3pm.

Marchers started gathering early at 7h00am  at the Mary Fitzgerald Square and Beyers Naude Square, for a march starting at midday.

They are expected to reach Constitutional Hill, at 3pm.

 * Jorrissen Street (turning right)

 * Civic Boulevard

 * Hoofd Street (turning right)

 * Hospital Street (leading to Constitutional Hill)
