Motorists driving to Thabazimbi, in the Waterberg District are alerted to the accumulation of water caused by heavy rains on road R510, about 13km from Thabazimbi to Northam.

According to Arrive Alive, road motorists are advised to use alternative routes, D1235 Northam to R511, then turn left to Thabazimbi or R510 from Northam and drive through Zondereinde mine,join D1233 and join R510 Thabazimbi.

Tumisang Pilane, the Mayor of Thabazimbi, said three (3) cars were swept away by floodwaters near Makoppa Road junction, luckily occupants were rescued.

In addition, 9 security officers of Cortac were rescued, who were in the mining area of Emery’s Rhino Mine.

Pilane also thanked Indigo Helicopters, Thaba Fire and Rescue and Jager Aviation for their assistance in rescue operations.
