Nordex shared  that the company’s purpose-built concrete tower factory in the Eastern Cape, has officially cast 1,000 concrete keystones for a cluster of wind projects near the Impofu Dam.

The company said via social media platforms “with only 425 keystones left to go, we’re closing in on our target and steadily progressing towards completion.”

The Nordex Group has had projects in South Africa since 2010, and has approximately 32% share of total installed wind power capacity in the Region.

Last month, Nordex confirmed its market readiness of its onshore wind turbine.

Robbert Timmers, Managing Director of Nordex in South Africa said back in April, “ with more wind projects moving to inland areas due to grid access constraints, technology that can maximise output in power wind regimes becomes more important.”

He also said the local manufacturing of concrete tower sections will stimulate regional employment, develop local skills and promote the procurement of South African raw materials.
