Customers in Emfuleni were told to pay electricity accounts directly to Eskom, in line with the court order handed down by the Pretoria High Court in July 2023.
Eskom said in a statement on Wednesday, the 05th March 2025, a distribution agency agreement, was signed between the two organizations, back in October 2024, appointing Eskom provide electricity.
Amanda Qithi, Spokesperson for Eskom in Gauteng, said “this directive remains in effect and is essential for ensuring continued electricity supply and sustainable service delivery. While several customers have already complied with this requirement, it has come to our attention that some customers are still not making
payments directly to Eskom. We urge these customers to make their electricity payments directly to the Eskom/Emfuleni First National Bank account.
